Mike and Gayle Oulighan have visited us before in Paris and Mexico City. Deb Camara has made plans to visit us but the pandemic changed those plans. Gayle and Deb are part of Sandy’s running friends who first met in 2010 when Sandy was training for the Athens Marathon. They call themselves “The Sole Sisters”. Gayle is running the Boston Marathon next month after she qualified last October at the age of 64. Deb and Gayle have both run a number of marathons. We supported them running the Berlin Marathon in 2019.
Happy to be here after a long day of travel. It takes at least two flights and an hour and a half shuttle to get to San Miguel. These athletic girls have to do the 500 stairs although Gayle counted them and there are 539. First days lunch is at La Terrazza rooftop. Steep, narrow cobbled streets to maneuver. Gayle had to run at least 5 miles everyday here as part of her marathon training. Deb ran with her. It was a challenge for them, especially the high altitude. Miguel pulled off another miracle when he booked this table for brunch after the first restaurant that we went to had a terrible brunch buffet and we left. Happy smiles after delicious brunch. Really cool art gallery It really is all about the food and of course drinks. This was a really fun ride. We booked a private balloon. The name of our balloon was; we don’t remember🥴 Taking off before sunrise. The baskets on those two balloons are much larger than ours. Here comes the sun We spotted our villa from the air. Also notice the distinctive bull ring. Our villa and back yard and fountain. Very smooth landing. The pilots were trained in Napa Valley which is where we had our first ride. Today was a first for Gayle, Mike and Deb Love the outdoor patio and fireplace where we enjoyed a few of Jim’s delicious margaritas made with fresh squeezed lime juice. These were the only guests to use the jacuzzi, Gayle, Mike and Jim. Our last guests leave SMA and we will have the last ten days to ourselves before returning to Boston.
We have had a great time in San Miguel de Allende with perfect weather, great food and wonderful friends. We really enjoy having friends visit us and we have made numerous new friends. Thank you all who have graced us with your presence.
