Memories of San Miguel de Allende

We spent three and a half months in San Miguel which is more time than we usually spend in one place but it was nice and warm and very comfortable. We have many fond memories and have summarized them in pictures below.

This is a swimming pool at the top of the stairs on our first day. A retaining wall had collapsed into the pool.

Our last day of walking the stairs, the retaining wall is completely rebuilt.

This distinctive gate entrance we would always pass on our way to City Market which was our favorite grocery store, about a 1.5 mile walk from our villa.

We were treated to an amazing Paella dinner prepared by Fulvio and Gilda Carbonaro
Gilda runs a cooking school in SMA and Florence. We hope to see them In Italy when we are in Spain. The pizza oven was specially made for Fulvio. He teaches local chefs how to make pizza in the oven.

These egrets migrate to San Miguel and build nests in the same trees every year.
They fill about three trees. We could see them flying over our house with long sticks in their bills.
Glad we got to see the Jacarandas beginning to bloom before we left

We love seeing the hot air balloon’s around 7 every morning.

Had a wonderful brunch at Nirvana to celebrate Ivonne’s 18 ½ Birthday (she was born on Feb 29) the day before we left.

Early morning departure (5am van pick up) Arrived at our destination in Boston at 9pm that night. Delayed flights and connections made for a 16 hour travel day.🙁
Enough of the sunsets in Mexico. Off to Madrid.
