We are sharing our ideal retirement experiences.

MUNICH

We spent one week in Munich last summer when we came to attend the Oberammergau Passion Play with six other friends. We liked Bavaria so much that Sandy decided we would spend this summer here. We found a nice penthouse apartment in a neighborhood called Harlaching about 30 minutes south of Oldtown by UBahn and just over an hours walk. We are booked to stay in Munich from June 7 to August 27.

Leaving Newport Tuesday June 6 to drive to Boston for haircuts before leaving later tonight.
Our usual three month array of luggage. Four carryon bags which we check, two backpacks and a wheeled computer bag.
Flying overnight on this Airbus 380-800 which is the world’s largest passenger airliner and only full-length double-deck airliner. We were on the second floor. We boarded the aircraft directly from the business class lounge which is really nice.
We actually sat next to each other which is unusual with business class seat configurations.

We have a great neighborhood with two organic markets, two normal markets, a 24/7 gas station mini mart, a couple bakeries, a deli and a green grocer all within 20 minutes walk. There is also a great Italian Bistro very close which we have been to three times already and an even better Greek restaurant we have been to twice. Our first guests are arriving 72 hours after us. We will cover that visit in the next blog.

    I really enjoy your blogs. We had a great visit to Munich in 2019. Visiting Neuschwanstein was a Bucket list thing.

      Thank you glad you enjoy our travel blog. We have been to Neuschwanstein Castle twice. The first time was on our honeymoon 42 years ago. Did you hear about the murder there on June 16. Google it, so tragic. It happened 3 days after we were there.
