Copenhagen with Even More Family

Our eldest child Jennifer, husband Rob and son Jackson are coming from Newport RI to spend our last four days in Copenhagen with us and then they will accompany us to Croatia and spend three days in Kukci. Jen and Rob have spent time with us in Paris in 2017, London in 2019, New Orleans in 2022, San Diego in 2024, Amsterdam in 2024 and now Copenhagen and Croatia. Jackson flew by himself to Paris in 2017 when he was 15. His 16th birthday was spent in Barcelona and Paris with us. He also spent time alone with us in London in 2018 after Jen & Rob’s wedding. He has accompanied his parents to see us in London 2018, New Orleans and Amsterdam. He is now going to celebrate his 24th birthday in Copenhagen and Croatia.

One hour and 58 minutes after bidding Audrey and Neil goodby we are welcoming Jackson, Jennifer and Rob who flew overnight from Boston through Amsterdam.
Within a couple of hours after their arrival we were aboard the canal tour boat Hyyge for the third time.
After the boat tour of the canals we went to Christiana/Freetown for a light early dinner.
Rob and Jack helped us finish off this puzzle of Paris.
We took the elevator to the top of Copenhill.
Day two we spent the day at Tivoli Gardens. Our third visit but only the second with rides. We had been wanting to do these high swings which don’t run if it is too windy. We were able to ride this day.
This is what Rob did while the rest of us were on the swings.
A very brief video of the brakeman on the old wooden rollercoaster.
Sandy’s second trip on the roller coaster, not quite as terrified this time.
Rob wouldn’t go on the swings but he went upside down on this one with Jen. The “Demon” is Tivoli’s scariest ride but the line was too long for us.
The quintessential Copenhagen picture opportunity.
After this we went to Tom’s Oyster Shack for lunch where we enjoyed great oysters, clam chowder, lobster and lobster rolls with champagne. Unfortunately they were unable to meet the owner Tom that we have befriended as he was on vacation. Tom is from Connecticut.
This was the only time we saw climbers on the Copenhill climbing wall.
Rob and Jim enjoying one of the magnificent sunsets from our penthouse patio.
Time to relax at home.
We took the train back to Helsinor to see Hamlet’s castle as Jack had taught Hamlet while doing student teaching in college.
A different view of Kronborg Castle.
A new Queen & King of Denmark.
Requisite Little Mermaid viewing.
A very fun sequence of pictures here. This is Rob with a guard in 1985, almost 40 years to the day.
Rob showed this guard the picture.
Which brought out a big smile.
Same picture years later.
Video of a rainy changing of the guards at Amalienborg.
The last viking.
Great mother son picture.
Another requisite visit to Noma, especially since they had both watched The Bear.
The Noma dining room.
After going to Kronborg Castle we dug out our puzzle of it which we had already completed once. We ran out of time in Copenhagen to complete it.
On our final day we were greeted with this beautiful double rainbow. The lower one was to faint to capture.
July 31 2025 and Jack’s 24th birthday, we are heading to Zagreb, Croatia.
It will be a short 90 minute flight to Croatia.
Goodby Copenhagen and Denmark.
Rob and Jim on devices while Jack is reading an actual book.

That wraps up Copenhagen. We hosted 19 people in two months including three of our children and six of nine grandchildren. We really enjoyed our time here but Sandy is wishing that we had gone to Stockholm after our 24 hours there.
